Today’s laminate flooring began to do more and more thick, from the original 6 mm to 8 mm, until now 12 mm, 15 mm, and for the thickness of laminate flooring increase, different people have different views.
Viewpoint one: aggrandizement floor “thick” and “thin”, have nothing to do with floor quality
Laminate flooring (impregnated paper laminated wood flooring) should meet the floor quality standard no matter “thick” or “thin”“ “Thick” and “thin” mainly refer to the thickness and size of the base material, quality index, density, internal bonding strength, water absorption thickness, expansion rate, static bending strength, formaldehyde emission, etc., which have nothing to do with “thick” and “thin”. There is no “thin” or “thick” quality problem at all.
Viewpoint 2: the “thick” and “thin” of laminate flooring have less influence on improving foot feeling
The floor feel is worse than other flooring. There are two main reasons: first, the rigidity of the substrate is large, and the density is high. Two, the cushion is too thin under the suspending shop, which is usually 3mm foam pad. At present, there are only 1.2mm. Only by improving the thickness of the laminate floor, to improve the foot feel, “get half the result with twice the effort”, will not achieve obvious results.
Viewpoint 3: “thin” and “thick” of laminate flooring have nothing to do with imitation solid wood flooring
In order to expand the market share and meet the needs of consumers, laminate flooring manufacturers have emerged as the times require “imitation solid wood flooring” with chamfering around. We believe that both “thick” and “thin” can be used as imitation solid wood flooring, which should have nothing to do with the thickness of the substrate! In terms of manufacturing technology accuracy, chamfering is easier to achieve than non chamfering!
Viewpoint 4: laminate flooring “thin” is more environmentally friendly than “thick”
The reasons are as follows: 1. The global forest resources are becoming more and more tight. The thickness of laminate flooring has increased by 50% (from 8mm to 12mm), and the consumption of raw materials has also increased significantly. Increasing the amount of forest harvesting is not conducive to the ecological balance. 2、 The formaldehyde emission limit of laminate flooring can not be zero (and it is not necessary to be zero). With the increase of floor thickness, the volume will increase, and the formaldehyde emission of indoor environment will also increase. 3、 The floor height of the living room is certain. If the floor thickness increases, the effective use of the floor height will inevitably decrease.
